RIGHT-OF-WAY
Clearing A Path for Power
When Oklahoma’s seasonal storms arrive—bringing with them wind and ice—dependable electric service demands a clear right-of-way. At Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, we work hard to keep our rights-of-way clear and the power flowing strong for our members—no matter what conditions Mother Nature sends our way.
In 1986, Northeast Oklahoma Electric’s board of trustees decided that it would be advantageous for the cooperative to employ its own right-of-way maintenance crews to help serve the growing needs of the cooperative while ensuring better control of the work done on our system.
Today, NOEC has full-time right-of-way crews handling various maintenance demands throughout our service territory. Faced with the important task of keeping the lines across the entire system clear of vegetation overgrowth, these crews have at their disposal basket trucks, spray rigs, Hydro-Axes, and Kershaw SkyTrims. These crews navigate oftentimes challenging terrain to handle clearing tasks throughout the year and also apply herbicide on a seasonal basis.
